Routine is an art. In this latest series of Identity, Ruben dedicates the weekend to his home and neighbourhood in Copenhagen.

I never say goodbye to the cities I travel to. There’s something beautiful about recollecting those memories and letting them wander in my mind. If I could capture a moment and hold it—like a photograph—I would. Though on the weekend, I put the phone aside so that my morning coffee can remind me of where I’ve been. Can you taste the difference between Paris and Athens or New York and London? Maybe I can’t, but I like to think that each sip can take me back to the café I had it in.

Tart with new Danish peas, organic eggs from Hegnsholt and pea shoots at Winterspring, Store Strandstræde 16

Nestled in the heart of the city, Winterspring is a second home for me. It's a place where I've shared many meals alone, with friends and moments in-between. Their food brings unusual Nordic flavours to a plate of carefully selected ingredients. The atmosphere is calm, intimate and impactful—creating a special visit each time. Try one of their egg breakfasts, traditional take on Danish flødebolle or iced desserts.

Since I was a child, the world’s current affairs have been present in my life. My father worked tirelessly behind the editing desk of a New York City newsroom to put food on the dinner table. It was at that table we would watch hours of evening reports on politics, entertainment and sports. Today, I still catch up on stories but from a bench in King's Garden. There's a special feeling that comes with sitting in the backdrop of a Renaissance period park.

Every weekend I treat myself to flowers at Kultorvet. It's a subtle way to add colour, character and seasonally to a home that doesn't change so often. Established in 1728, Kultorvet is a go-through square for sidewalk cafés, fruit and flower stalls. It's not fancy, but my weekends aren't meant to be. For other florists in the centre, visit Tableau, BB Blomster and Stalks & Roots.
